The day continued with breakfast, a playdate at the library and lunch at Jersey Mike's with Jada. Hailey became progressively more moody as the day went on and by lunch there was fussing, tears and drooling to rival that of a St.Bernard.
OBVIOUSLY, she must be teething!? So I took her home and was ecstatic to find Ashton and Parsons baby teething powders in my mailbox (my family sends them from Scotland, they're an herbal teething remedy that work wonders!!)
I ran inside and quickly gave my little angel a dose hoping to calm her sobs. It seemed to take the edge off, however she continued to shed little tears . . . here is a video taken shortly after getting the teething powders --
(allow me to preface this video by saying, if you can't handle seeing Hailey in a rough state then I advise you don't watch -- Nonni, I'm talkin' to you!!)
About 10 minutes after the video Hailey found her "happy place" . . .
But it only lasted a short while and when she awoke from her slumber she felt a little warm, so I took her temperature and found it to be 102, yikes! A quick call to the pediatricians office to confirm what I already knew, this temp was far too high to be solely related to teething. It was 2pm and we were scheduled to see the doc at 330pm (have I mentioned lately I LOVE my pediatricians office???) I gave her a dose of baby Tylenol and again we were able to find some peace and comfort on mommy's shoulder . . .
I even set my cell phone alarm so I could take a quick nap with her -- as much as I hate to see my baby sick I'll admit it was nice to have that little mid day nap with her!!
Our trip to see the pediatrician ended with a diagnosis of an ear infection & a red sore throat and a prescription for antibiotics to be taken twice a day for 10 days. Although I was commended for keeping her healthy for this long (before now she has not needed anything other than a few doses of Tylenol here and there) I still feel terrible for allowing her to get sick ;( And even worse for just thinking it was teething -- in my defense however, Hailey is such a stoic little person that it's nearly impossible to know she's sick until, wham, fever hits her.
Anyhow, every story deserves a happy ending, so here is Hail's only minutes after getting the first dose of her antibiotic and some Motrin . . .
So to answer the blog title "What could be worse than teething" how about teething, an ear infection, a sore throat, a runny nose AND an idiot mom who takes video of you going through all of this! geezzz!

Lighten up on yourself, Mom! Kids get sick no matter what you do ... then they get better. Been happening that way for some time now. You guys are doing just fine with Hailey.
Hailey Bug glad to see you are feeling better after your meds. No I did not watch the sad little Hailey video:-( just the happy one:-) Can't stand to see the wee bug in pain. Nonni will see you in a couple of weeks, I'll pack up the critters and drive on out there.
Ok i so know what you are going through, but now im freaked that maybe its not just teething, do I dare take Ty to another appt because im a paranoid mommy? Anyway, Ty has a had a runny nose and drooling like crazy also, it is seriously so sad when they get sick, they get so dang fussy though.
Ahh .. poor thing! I hope she is feeling better! I guess those sleepless nights don't really change too much but hopefully they get better.
