Fairies in Your Future?

--Milestone Alert--
So as fate would have it ... a day after posting a blog about how fast my little bug is growing up I have discovered a tooth -- Just shy of turning 6 months old Hailey's first tooth has decided to make an appearance. We were having "mommy Hailey snuggle time" in the big bed this morning when I noticed a little white something at the bottom of her signature gummy grin. Upon further prodding, poking and investigating I realized that it is the very beginnings of her first tooth emerging. Bottom right. She has been handling what I'm sure has been a very painful few days like a trooper ... looking back the only difference in behavior I have noticed is an increase in wanting to be held and 1 am squawking sessions that usually last 15-30 minutes (not crying or screaming ... like in discomfort, but squawking and yelling, attempts at having conversation, which I refused to have any part in and therefore dealt with by giving her a feeding and putting her in her crib to talk to her stuffed animals while I stumbled back to bed to semi-sleep, semi-watch her on the monitor) As soon as I can get photo evidence of her new little toother I will post it, but for now I thought I would share one last precious toothless grin

Sittin Pretty

Today we went on post to register with CDC (Child Development Centers)so Hailey could go into child care if and when needed -- not that I plan on having Hailey in childcare anytime too soon, but it's good to have her registered because one day I will have to start working again (dread!!) After filling out tons of fun government paperwork we went and had lunch with daddy in his office ... Hailey loves her daddy!

Then we ran some more errands and came home to relax a little before getting Madi from school. I decided to give Hail's a little butt time; as some of you may know I have been working with her on her sitting skills -- thus far she has just kind of rolled over anytime I try to sit her up, Nonni says it's just because she has a little round bottom -- well I guess it just got a little flatter!! To my amazement she just started to sit, and sit, and sit . . . toppling did eventually come but not after several uninterrupted seconds of sitting (we're talking like 30 seconds here ... BIG NEWS!!) And the more I let her try and sit the longer she would do it!! I have been trying to get her to do this for weeks now and it seems like all of a sudden the whole concept of balance seems to have clicked with her!! I'm one excited mama, she can stop all growing now -- all I wanted was a little baby that could sit up and now I have her!! Any chance she comes with a pause button that would allow me to freeze her at this stage of life?

Tschuss, Ciao, Adeu, Adios, Cheerio, Aloha ...

Goodbye is never easy, and this case is no different. It is time for me to say "so long" to the Pack N' Play that has been residing next to my bed for the past 5 months and let Hailey be a big girl, who sleeps in her big girl crib, in her own big girl room. She I'm sure is ready for the transition ... as she seems to be rapidly outgrowing the Pack N Play

I however will take some time to adjust to her absence in my room. Karl was nice enough to get me the Bebe Angel Monitor that detects movement in the crib so that I can rest peacefully knowing that a loud beeping sound will awaken me should the crib sensor not sense movement from my little angel for more than 20 seconds! I'm sure there may be some false alarms but I would rather be awakened to find her perfectly fine than have something happen (which I'm sure it won't but she's the only one I have so I'm a little protective!!)
We'll let you know how the first big night as a big girl in her own big crib goes ... I have a feeling the only one that will act like a baby over the situation is me.

Baby on the Go ...

We have a milestone alert!! Well actually I guess it's more like a "half milestone". Hail's has started the beginnings of crawling! I have no idea how long it'll actually take her to really start crawling (or to gain the upper body strength to pull it off -- if she's like her mommy then her little bird arms won't get her far!) She has started to get up on her knees and push her upper body forward, which I find very exciting; and a little scary ... after all I just got outlet covers the other day, there's so much more Hailey proofing to be done!! But I always knew she'd be quick to learn crawling -- she has been our little "go" baby since day one.

PS My apologies for the lighting -- as you may recall from previous videos Hailey tends to become a little camera shy, so I was trying to stay behind her in hopes that she wouldn't notice that I was filming her

Happy Birthday To Hailey

It's a happy 4 month birthday for Hailey Elisabeth! We started the day cheering on mom's beloved Hokies who unfortunately opened their season as the Chokies losing to East Carolina ... ohwell, atleast we looked cute!

Hailey wanted to call coach Beamer after the game to discuss not redshirting Taylor this year ... but we decided he was probably already getting an ear full from his own new granddaughter, so we called Papa David instead.

Then we enjoyed some delicious rice cereal .. Hailey's first experience with "solid" food -- it was pretty runny if you ask me, but she didn't seem to mind she gobbled it right down.
What an exciting birthday!

PS Daddy is fired from shooting video ;)

Doctor Doctor

That's right folks, she's almost 4 months!! Which means a visit to Dr.Prabhu was in order. Our little super model in the making is 13lbs 3oz (41st percentile) and 25 inches (78th percentile) which means she tall and skinny!
We got the "all clear"... she's good and healthy, can start some solid foods (how exciting!?) and can continue with all her early swimming ...

Unfortunatly no visit is complete without getting vaccinated (sigh) ... first she got some tasty flavored Tylenol which she enjoyed,

then Rotovirus which wasn't so tasty

and finally three ouchie shots in the legs ... good thing we brought daddy along this time to comfort mommy!

Silver lining --- no more till 6 months!!

Turning Tricks Tuesday

Today has been an active day in the Sondermann household. Hailey and mom went swimming at the Y, we love pool days. All the little ladies working out in the therapy pool complimented Hailey on her swimming skills! Upon coming home Hail's had a nap while mom hopped in the shower.
The nap must have left Hailey feel quite rejuvenated because she decided to show off her rolling skills ... I believe we might have mastered the back to front. Guess that means no more leaving her unattended on the bed or changing table (I know, I know your not supposed to do that, but lets not kid ourselves she doesn't do anything for the first few months of life what are the chances she's gonna fall off?!)

Milestone Review

It occurred to me that since I just started this blogging thing recently I haven't blogged Hailey's many milestones ... and with a visit to the doctor AND a big 4 month birthday coming up I thought I would share what she has accomplished so far in her almost 4 months on the planet so here goes ...

* being born, obviously a huge accomplishment, she even managed to do it upside down therefore landing mommy on the chopping block after several agonizing hours of labor, thanks kid ...

*First big outing, a shopping trip with mommy and grandmama, might I mention she was a natural ...

* First battleground trip Ft.Donelson (yawn ... oops) But seriously this was a "historical" moment, she got to go with Nana and Boompa which was special since this is totally their kind of thing (and daddy's) we was super excited to share it with them!

*Baptism, a big milestone that called for a big dress! Thankfully great grandma Betty was up to the challenge of finding the most beautiful dress ever, Hailey was a little princess!

*First time @ the beach during Aunt Heidi's wedding in Charleston, SC which was incidentally her first wedding and first big road trip 9 hours by car from TN, she was an angel!

FIRST ROLL!! Belly-to-back. This occurred about 3 weeks ago, just out of no where there she goes. It took several days for a repeat performance, and even today it's hit or miss -- she has since managed the elusive back-to-belly a few times, but it too is still a work in progress before she is a pro. None the less we're super proud of her!!

*Finally, Hailey gets caught with her foot in her mouth, literally. Over the past week this has become a big, and frequent, accomplishment -- she even has a little munch time in the bath tub!

Hope you have enjoyed sharing all our milestone moments -- there will be so many more to come and we look forward to sharing them with ya'll!

Much Love,
Karl, Susan, Hailey, Cali, Sophie and Jersey!!
