GO MAMA!!!

I bought Hailey a toddler size duvet from IKEA last time I was home in Florida, I love my duvet and figured what better for Hailey when she had a big girl bed than to have one just like mommy and daddy. They sold covers there too but if any of you know IKEA, then you know their patterns are a little on the funky side :) So, I decided I would just make my own! Pretty bold for someone that has a hard time folding a piece of paper in half and hasn't touched a sewing machine since the 6th grade!
Well the conversion to the toddler bed came sooner than expected and I was tasked with making her duvet long before I thought I would have to ... I decided to go with the "animal" theme in her room and bought several fabric swatches from Hobby Lobby. I had a vision in my head, and thanks to my girlfriend Heather I had a sewing machine ... now to just bring it all together :) I will admit I wasn't expecting much ...

but even Karl was impressed with my domestic abilities :) Just 1 day after starting I was done and super proud of my finished product :)

By far my biggest reward was hearing Hailey say "WOW" over the monitor when she woke up to a new bed cover with all her favorite animals on it :) I'll let her give you the details ...

I'm already trying to decide what to do next ... although I should spend more time studying for my RN program and less redecorating! But if it earns me smiles like this then it's hard to resist...

She looks like such a big girl. Seriously in the bottom photo she looks like she's 7? Where is the time going?

Super impressed with your craft and sewing skills - I have no abilities in that department.

Very nice mama and I can see Hailey is delighted with her new bed set:-) The child is obsessed with animals. Hmmm wonder where she got that from.

Outstanding work, Susan! You probably got an "A" in sutures too.

I have a sewing machine that I'm pretty desperate to use again ... however, I cannot for the love of mankind remind how to thread my bobbin. So, for now ... I give up!
