Karl was in the field this past week so Hailey and I had lots of mommy daughter time. Probably the most memorable moment we had (and I wish daddy had been around for) was my 5am wake up call on Friday morning -- mind you Friday is my one day off school!
I heard the little one on her monitor bright and early and thought to myself "GO BACK TO SLEEP" ... so I ignored her in hopes that would happen. Sure enough 10 minutes later ... silence!
About 5 minutes after that I hear "Mama .... Jersey" loud and clear, suspiciously clear ... most definitely not coming from the monitor; I roll over to find Ms Hailey standing at the foot of my bed!! Talk about a shock!
Needless to say, come Saturday and a second attempt at escape witnessed on the video monitor (she stopped herself once she had her leg up) I decided it was time to convert the crib -- better to prevent an accident then hope it doesn't happen. I must admit I was a little (actually a lot) hesitant in making the transition ... but it has gone SO well! The first nap time took a few reminders to stay in bed and go to sleep, but since then she hasn't had any problems. I credit 1.) the use of cots at childcare and 2.) a solid naptime/bedtime regieme that we have had for over a year now.
The very first nap time she climbed down to the changing pad, I keep it one the floor incase she should roll out of bed, and she fell asleep checking under the bed for monsters :) It was pretty cute ...
Since then however, it's been safe and sound ...

The little bug is all grown up in the big girl bed now:-)
go buy those kids rails, it works for cribs too! xans crib didn't come with a toddler rail, so i bought one at walmart and it worked perfectly. in fact, he's using it in his big boy bed now, 'cause that kid can fall out of anything!
awwww....so cute :-) I'm glad she has made the adjustment well. It gives me hope for when I have to make it with Jake, but until he starts climbing out of his crib.....the crib stays :-) :-)
